The aim of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) is to enable people to know Jesus Christ and gain eternal life. The church is built on Jesus Christ as its foundation, is guided by the Word of God as found in the Old and New Testaments, and is strengthened by the Sacraments.
It does so in accordance with the Lutheran Confessions, which are true interpretations of the Word of God. The ST. George Lutheran Parish Kiomboi is within the ELCT Central Diocese in Singida region is among 91 full parishes.
The parish is located 100 km from Singida municipality the administrative headquarter of Singida Region and headquarter of Central Diocese. The parish headquarters’ is in Kiomboi town near to District market area. The parish was officially inaugurated in 1964 and was named St. GEORGE with registration number St. George 010/07/12/64 under the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania Central Diocese Registration SO No. 8143.
The source was due to presence of Kizega sub parish in 1958 under Kiomboi Parish where believers used the antiquity dispensary building to serve people with leprosy for church services. By that time (1963) the Evangelists were Gerson Kizinga and Amosi Kilimba and the parish Pastor was missionary Dr George Anderson together with local pastor Jonathan Kitalama.
